Preventive Services for
Non-Grandfathered Health Plans

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“PPACA”) requires Non-Grandfathered Health Plans to cover preventive services based on what the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force rated as an A or B preventive service. This list of services is subject to change as notified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The following preventive services are covered on your BEST Life Non-Grandfathered Health Plan at 100% for both in- or out-of-network. To be covered at 100%, these services cannot be combined with a sickness visit. Your doctor will recommend preventive services based on your individual needs.

Preventive Services for Adults

• Abdominal aortic aneurysm (1 time screening for men of specified ages who have ever smoked)
• Alcohol misuse screening and counseling
• Aspirin use for men and women of certain ages
• Blood Pressure screening for all adults
• Cholesterol screening for adults of certain ages or at higher risk
• Colorectal Cancer screening for adults over 50 (PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen test included)
• Depression screening for adults
• Type 2 Diabetes screening for adults with high blood pressure
• Diet counseling for counseling adults at higher risk for chronic disease
• For TX residents only:
  

  -	Nutritional counseling for adult patients with hyperlipidemia and other known risk factors for cardiovascular and diet-related chronic disease. Can be delivered by primary physician

  
  
• HIV screening for all adults at higher risk
• Immunization vaccines for adults - doses, recommended ages and recommended populations vary:
  

  -	Hepatitis A & B		-	Meningococcal
  -	Herpes Zoster (Shingles)		-	Pneumococcal
  -	Human Papillomavirus (HPV)		-	Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis
  -	Influenza		-	Varicella
  -	MMR: Measles, Mumps, Rubella

  
  
• Obesity screening and counseling for all adults
• Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) prevention counseling for adults at higher risk
• Tobacco Use screening for all adults and cessation interventions for tobacco users
• Syphilis screening for all adults at higher risk
