Group Short Term Disability

lifeProvides valued employees a financial safety net while they recuperate from a non-work-related injury or illness. BEST Life's Short Term Disability can be offered in four ways:

100% employer-paid

Requires a minimum of 5 employees enrolling and 100% participation:

  1. No evidence of insurability required;
  2. No late entrants;
  3. Percentage or flat benefit amounts up to $1,000 weekly for preferred industries;
  4. 13 or 26 weeks benefit duration;
  5. A choice for benefits for a sickness/injury to begin in 1/8, 8/8, 15/15 or 30/30 days; and
  6. Partial Disability and Maternity coverage optional.
  7. Currently available in AR, DC, HI, ID, IL, IN, KY, MO, MS, NE, NM, OH, PA, SC, SD,TX, UT and WY. Additional states pending approval.

Employer-contributory

For employers with 5 or more employees enrolling and 75% participation:

  1. 25% minimum employer contribution;
  2. Percentage or flat benefit amounts up to $1,000 weekly for preferred industries;
  3. 13 or 26 weeks benefit duration;
  4. The option for benefits for a sickness/injury to begin in 1/8, 8/8, 15/15 or 30/30 days; and
  5. Coverage for Partial Disability or Maternity may be included upon request.
  6. Currently available in AR, DC, HI, ID, IL, IN, KY, MO, MS, NE, NM, OH, PA, SC, SD,TX, UT and WYT. Additional states pending approval.

Voluntary

Designed for groups with 5 or more employees enrolling, this is a perfect option for companies looking to add to their employee benefits program, without increasing their budget.

  1. Requires 25% participation;
  2. Benefits paid at a percentage or a flat benefit up to $1,000 per week for preferred industries;
  3. Offers 13, 26 or 52 week benefit duration options;
  4. A choice for sickness/injury benefits to begin in 1/8, 8/8, 15/15 or 30/30 days; and
  5. Coverage for maternity is optional.
  6. Currently available in AR, DC, HI, ID, IL, IN, KY, MO, MS, NE, NM, OH, PA, SC, SD,TX, UT and WY. Additional states pending approval.

custom plans

Groups with over 50 employees enrolling have the option to customize any of our Short Term Disability plans:

  1. May be offered as 100% employer-paid, employer-contributory or voluntary;
  2. Benefits paid at a percentage or a flat benefit up to $2,500 per week;
  3. May choose from 13, 26 or 52 week benefit duration periods;
  4. A choice of benefits for a sickness/injury to begin 1/8, 8/8, 15/15 or 30/30 days; and
  5. Maternity and/or Partial Disability benefits optional.
  6. Currently available in AR, DC, HI, ID, IL, IN, KY, MO, MS, NE, NM, OH, PA, SC, SD,TX, UT and WY. Additional states pending approval.
